Assignment structure, format and details: An industry report (essay) that critically analyses one example of multimodal journalism. The essay should feature critical analysis and demonstrate engagement with debates encountered on the module, i.e. it needs to engage with the academic literature on the topic. The focus of your analysis should be on ONE example of multimodal journalism. You should include relevant logistical details, such as about the publisher, author, publication, date of publication etc. Furthermore, you should identify the modes/mediums used in the piece of multimodal journalism you are analysing, and examine, with reference to literature, how and why particular mediums have been chosen to tell a particular part of the story. In doing so, you should consider the constraints on journalistic production process which might have been associated with the choice of mediums and the ways in which these elements of the story were produced. As ever, everything should be referenced properly, and a reference list should be placed at the end of the essay. Assessed learning outcomes and assessment criteria 1. Competent understanding of how practical constraints associated with and resulting from emergent technologies impact on journalistic editorial production process. 2. Competent understanding of how platforms (singly or in combination) are selected that are most appropriate for dissemination of a specific journalistic narrative.
