Draw from your class readings and review additional research literature to identify best practices (policies, programs, management approach, etc.) related to the creation of a new prison facility in New York State. This can be an opportunity to re-imagine the role of corrections in the U.S. by drawing from the approaches to incarceration and treatment in other parts of the world. Your paper is divided into two research sections due at the end of weeks 4 and 7 (i.e., Sunday by 11:59pm both of those weeks). Each section focuses on a different component of the new prison you are proposing to create. Research Section #1: Do both of the following: (a) construct a use of force policy for your new prison, and (b) describe the model of civilian oversight for the facility. Research Section #2: Outline both: (a) the programs you will offer in your prison to minimize prisonization of your offender population, and (b) the reentry programs you will have in place for when individuals reinitiate back into the community.
