The first benefit would be Interoperability, because the system would not only improve the current manual hiring process through interoperability but also be able to integrate with the old system. This would allow the new system to operate and integrate smoothly without the difficulty of incompatibility with the old system. The second benefit would be Security as better security would be in place compared to the manual hiring process that involved sorting through different paperwork which could be accessed by anyone compared to electronically where better security measures would be in place.
Three things the CIO and his team should look for as they consider which SaaS vendor to select are the cost, user requirements, and vendor ability. Cost will be a factor due to budget reasons. Its important to review the total cost of ownership to ensure it meets budgets. Other items included in the cost will be testing, maintenance, and data migration. Migrating data into a new system can be very time consuming and costly, so these are important considerations for the organization. User requirements must also be considered. Some questions to determine if the SaaS meet the user requirements are how close the SaaS to the current system and how much data migration must be completed. Vendor ability will also be another factor to consider. The CIO and his team should ensure the SaaS vendor is financially stable and can provide the services needed from the organization. Make sure that your expectations and those of the SaaS provider are the same before going into any contract and plan for decreasing or even increasing your IT workforce (Delsh, 2018).
One of the biggest risks to consider is security of the data. When working with SaaS the company must rely on the vendor taking all the precautions pertaining to guarding of sensitive information. It is important that vendor manages access and protects that information. Otherwise, the MTC’s reputation could be at risk.
