Please write a research proposal with a topic related to Corporate Governance that you think you will be able to do empirical research for a full thesis. Below are the instructions, I have also attached topics covered in my course and some relevant papers for your review. For Assignment 1, you need to write a research proposal. The topic of your proposal needs to be related to Corporate Governance. A good research proposal is original, interesting, and executable. Original means your research question has not been examined by prior studies (this means you should do a thorough search of prior literature, although you dont have to discuss it extensively in the proposal). Interesting means the paper can contribute to a large extent to our existing knowledge. It has important implications for policy makers, investors, managers, and other stakeholders. Executable means your research question can be investigated based upon available data (bases). Please note again that the proposal should be empirical and about a corporate governance topic. If unsure, check back with me whether your topic is suitable for this course. The proposal is usually structured as follows: – Introduction: What is your research question? How can it contribute to the existing literature? Who cares about your question? – Background/Literature review: Discuss the relevant theoretical background and concepts, and give a short review of the most relevant prior (empirical) literature. This is not meant to be an exhaustive literature review, but to help a reader understand the potential contribution of your proposal. – Hypothesis Development: How can you form these hypotheses (predictions) based on prior theoretical and empirical studies? – Research Design: How do you plan to investigate your research question? Is the proposed methodology based on prior literature, which extensions/innovations will you include? – Sample Selection/Data: How will you collect/construct your data sample to conduct your research?
