Examine how emotions assist or inhibit our moving through the learning cycle. Each person is different and there is no right or wrong emotional reaction. When we examine the patterns of our emotional reactions however, we can gain insight into how our reactions are helping or hindering our learning.
Consider Kolb’s learning cycle and how you move through the cycle. Are there parts of the cycle you enjoy more than others? Are there parts that bring up anxiety for you? Are there parts that seem more difficult than other parts?
For example, some individuals enjoy the reflective observation phase of connecting new experiences with prior knowledge and could spend days, even weeks, making new connections! Some individuals face the active testing phase with trepidation and put it off as long as possible.
