Core beliefs about human nature, the country, the government, and the economy
Attitudes about government officials, alternative public policies, the parties, candidates for elected office, and other political matters of the day
Some aspects of political socialization lead Americans to closely resemble one another. This alikeness is particularly evident in terms of the core beliefs of Americans (political culture), such as individualism, the sanctity of private property, populism, distrust of government, emphasis on individual liberty. Other aspects of political socialization lead Americans to differ from one another in attitudes and opinions in fairly significant ways.
