Write ONE well-crafted essay (in well-structured sentences and paragraphs) choosing one topic / question from the following.
1. Write about service (as in servants), or the exercise of power (of, or over, property or people) in any one of the plays that you have studied for this course.
2. Discuss the difference between love and attachment in any play that you have studied for the course.
3. Write about humour in any of the plays on the course. If you write about Waiting for Godot, you may want to think about the theatre of the absurd.
4. Write about self-conscious theatricality in one of the plays you have studied. If you choose to deal with Waiting for Godot you might focus on breaches of the fourth wall (talking to the audience), or if you choose to write about Twelfth Night you might want to think about the performance of gender.
5. Write an essay about suffering or sickness in Waiting for Godot.
6. Write an essay about language and / or symbolism in Waiting for Godot.
7. Explain how any play that you have studied for this course adheres to or subverts the expectations of genre (Tragedy / Comedy / Tragicomedy). In other words, how is a play you have studied like (or not like) other plays of its kind (Tragedy, Comedy, or Tragicomedy)?
8. Write an essay that examines the mistreatment of a single character in one of the plays you studied.
