This is an inquiry-based argument. This means that you should be curious about a topic before you “pick a side.” What complex question might you ask about your topic? There is a difference between asking why blue- and white-collar jobs are treated differently and arguing that this is wrong. Before you make your stance, design a question. Primary Research: To better answer your question, you’ll be collecting primary research. Conducting primary research means that you will be tasked with designing your own research topics as well as techniques for data collection. You will also be analyzing that data. Primary research is also called “raw” research. This means that the research or data has not been interpreted, analyzed, or examined by anyone else. Secondary Research: Secondary research is the research you are likely already familiar with. Archival, data-base, or library sources generally constitute secondary research. In this paper, you will be asked to consult secondary research sources as a way of better developing your ideas. Think of these sources as complimentary to your primary research.
