In a 3-4 page essay, complete with introduction, thesis statement, body paragraphs, conclusion,
and works cited/bibliography, respond to the following prompt:
How does the text Heretic’s Heart reveal the struggle between individualism and collective
action in the movements of the Long Sixties? How does Margot personally reconcile this
tension?
An A paper requires a thesis statement that provides an argument to answer these
questions. Likewise, an A paper will have clearly organized body paragraphs that provide
analysis and evidence from the text to back up your thesis. An A paper will have a conclusion
that brings the rest of the paper together and communicates “so what?/so what now?” Use your
conclusion to make your paper relevant to a broader context, or use it to restate your thesis
statement in a new and engaging way. Check your course Canvas page for a video guide on
writing an effective formal essay.
All papers should be in 12pt font, 1-inch margins, double-spaced. Your works
cited/bibliography does not count as a page towards the page-count.
Please finish reading Heretic’s Heart before you attempt to write this essay. Ask for an extension
if you need to. I will be grading based on quality of your analysis and argument, which requires
reading the text.
