Students will complete a final Community Agency Project for 40 points (see Appendix B for a grading rubric). A written report (between 5 to 7 type written pages, excluding the title page and References) and a power point presentation highlighting key points (with a minimum of 10 slides, excluding the initial title slide and the final References slide) will be required. Students will select one of the following options: Option A entails completing a current program evaluation (which requires visiting a local agency) to interview a program representative (preferably the Program Director). Students will write a thorough summary of the program’s services, staffing/personnel needed to deliver the services, target client demographic and number of clients served, and history of the organization. How did this program come to be in existence? How are services marketed and how are clients recruited? How is the program funded? What are the program’s goals? What are the program’s greatest challenges? Are there other comparable programs in the community or is it unique (do your research on this)? After interviewing the program representative, write a thoughtful evaluation of your visit and overall impressions of the program. Applying the information learned from the course readings, what are some positives and what are some issues that need to be improved or addressed to run a more successful program (think critically)? Option B requires you to develop a new program that addresses a current community issue you are passionate about. Using your creativity and the knowledge you gained from this course, you will write a thorough summary of the program’s services, staffing/personnel needed to deliver the services, target client demographic and number of clients served. How will services be marketed and how will clients be recruited? How will the program be funded (be specific about this)? What are the program’s goals? What challenges do you anticipate in developing and running this program? Are there other comparable programs in the community or is it unique (do your research on this)?
