Write a research essay, construct a causal or comparative argument which analyzes a particular research question within Sophocles’ Antigone, William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, or a group of poems which share a specific theme (as grouped in the syllabus). The essay will be a 5-6 page research essay that draws upon 3-5 secondary sources to support your argument. These essays should reflect a sustained engagement with the text under consideration as well as scholarly engagement with relevant research. Having studied and written on the structure and narrative techniques employed within short stories and poetry, you will now be challenged to construct a thesis-driven analysis of a longer narrative piece or collection of poems.
