(85 Points) PAPER INSTRUCTIONS: The page recommendation is four pages. The page limit is a guideline to help you understand the depth that I am expecting. Respect page limits; make sure you include the most important points. Papers that are far below the page limit or far exceeding the page limit will lose points.
(10 Points): Choose a social issue or social problem that is important to you. Locate AT LEAST one (or more is better) current news article(s) or academic research from CREDIBLE sources that relate to your topic (please see Tools for Researching). Your article(s) should be incorporated meaningfully into your analysis.
(10 Points): Introduce and describe your social issue or social problem. Why is it important to you? Why did you choose this particular social issue/problem?
(50 Points): Analyze your topic sociologically using your credible news/academic sources and at least six class terms/concepts. Your terms and concepts from class material must be (bolded/underlined) from either 1) any class material we have covered in lecture 2) any main terms/concepts from any chapter of the online textbook and/or Sociological Perspectives on Substance Use and College Life. Remember, give the definition of the term/concept you are using in your own words, underline the word, cite where you got it, and put it in boldface and apply the term or perspective to your topic or tell me why/how your social issue/problem relates to the term/concept. You must provide a clear “illustration” of how the terms/concepts you have chosen relate to your chosen issue/problem. This is not a list; your paper must have a logical, coherent, flow.
