In a 2-3 page paper, written in APA format using proper spelling/grammar, review the following scenario. Identify the mental health condition most likely associated with the subject. Describe in detail how you would safely handle the call. What types of de-escalation techniques would you apply? What are the rights of this individual and what resources are available to him? Additionally, using a minimum of three peer-reviewed resources, describe specifics characteristics and common causes as they relate to this condition.
Scenario:
You are dispatched to a residence after a female has called 911 due to her son being out of control. Upon arrival, the female describes her son’s behavior which leads you to believe he is agitated, delirious and elevated. She tells you her son has a history of using cocaine. When you approached the male, he disobeys commands to stay seated on a couch. He complains of being hot and begins to remove his shirt. He continuously yells, “You’re in my living room!” He is extremely fidgety and rocks back and forth while sitting in his chair. His pupils are constricted. The male becomes combative and yells at officers. He suddenly charges officers and has unexpected strength.
