You must have an underlined thesis statement that answers the following question: What social science issue is being discussed in the story, and is the authors point believable? Guidelines: 1. Paper must be 2000-2200 words in length (about 7-8 pages, 12 pt. font), not including your cover, Abstract, or References page, typed and double-spaced. 2. You must choose a social/psychological issue that is explored in the story you chose for this paper. (The story and it’s writer, 10th Edition by Ann Charters) For example: Socio-Economic Class in The Lesson, or PTSD in The Red Convertible. 3. You must use a short story from your textbook. You may use a story we have gone over in class, or you may choose another story from the book. 4. You must have 5-7 outside sources other than the story itself. These sources must come from the library databases and/or your textbook. No Internet sources are allowed. 5. You may use sources related to your social/psychological issue, as well as sources related to the story itself, for example: if you are using the short story The Yellow Wallpaper you may want to use sources about post-partum depression/psychosis, thus proving that the narrator suffers from Post-Partum Depression/Psychosis. 6. You must use APA style format. NOTE: I chose John Steinbeck’s short story, “The chrysanthemums” from the textbook. Theme of the story is gender/ inequality/ feminism so the thesis should have something to do with that.Show more
