The interactive map found on this website highlights many of the world’s recognized and embraced third and fourth genders. After you have viewed the website, select one gender identity from the interactive map (you should select an example from an area of the world in which you are interested in learning more about), and answer the following questions: 1. What country have you selected, and what is the name of the gender identity? 2. Provide a brief explanation of where this gender identity “fits” in the spectrum of sex/gender, and why this gender is not recognized as strictly “male” or “female”. 3. Do some additional research on this gender identity and discuss for approximately how long this gender has been recognized within the culture. Is this gender identity respected and revered within the culture, or is it viewed in a deviant manner? Has this always been the case? 4. What is something else you learned about this gender identity that is interesting? Explain. 5. Provide a properly formatted bibliography of the resources you used to answer questions 3 & 4. 6. Based on the readings, and research you have conducted, what does it mean to say that gender and sexuality are “artificially constructed” categories? Your answer should demonstrate your understanding of these concepts. 7.
