For this assignment, first detail below your paper’s “thesis” or topic — what you are doing and your topic of the paper.
Second, outline the points of your paper; that is, create a skeletal framework that details the points of your paper. This can be fairly basic; I mainly want to know what you are going to write about and that you have a framework for the paper itself.
* As soon as the topic and outline is completed please share with me in case any collaboration is needed. Please do not hesitate to keep me in the loop of what you are writing about or contact me with any questions, or concerns.
Final Project Guidelines :
Your final project is the culmination of a look at Fiction, Poetry, and Drama.
This paper is to be detailed with critical thinking applied. It cannot be a bibliography or a book report. Do not go to bibliography.com or a general Wiki summary and cut and paste.
Step One is to decide which genre of literature you want to focus on, short story, poetry, or drama. You can choose one of those three to focus on. Figure out which genre do you like the most and which one do you want to stick with.
Step Two Here is what is expected:
A research analysis of an authors fiction, poets poetry, or playwrights screenplay history and how their style and craft has developed over time. I want to know their history. You can go into some background details.
For example, I want to know about their style, how has it changed overtime. What barriers have they gone through as a writer or a playwright, or a poet. What have they done to advance the genre itself. What have they contributed? What has been peoples reactions to their work? I do not want you to tell me about all the different books or poems, etc. an author has written. Tell me about how the authors writing developed over time. What did he start out writing? How is that developed? Why did the author choose the genre he or she is known for. How has other writers been influenced by the author or poet you have chosen to write and analysis on. What is the impetus for that? How has the authors work been received by modern audiences? How has his adaptations been influenced?
Step Three: No matter what your topic or prompt chosen, your research essay MUST be at LEAST EIGHT pages in length, double-spaced, 12-point font, and have the following:
A detailed introduction paragraph, where you explain your thesis or goal of the paper as well as your points you are planning to address.
A section after your introduction where you either explain the controversy, explain the process of adapting a book to a movie (if thats your topic), or offer background information on your topic before diving into the research or terms youre going to discuss
At least THREE terms or concepts of the genre you select must be discussed at some point in your research project; this can be discussed with your instructor if needed.
At least FOUR sources need to be in your paper; this can include the pieces that are part of your topic and any source considered credible. NO Wikipedia, Wikis, or About.com.
This paper should be an ANALYSIS, meaning it includes your thoughts, it includes a synthesis of your words and the sources…it is NOT just a summary, NOT just a book report.
