Business school and majors within it are producing an in-person event on campus to be held in February 2022. The event is one day.
This event will showcase student educational sessions that are 50 minutes long. The event will start with a key note address from the Dean and host concurrent education sessions in AM and PM sessions.
As a student, you are asked to design, develop, and host an education session on the topic of your choice with some parameters.

Create value for the audience (classmates) where a specific knowledge or skill goal is defined
Something you are passionate about or have a further interest in exploring
Appropriate for a collegiate setting
What from your experience are you a subject matter expert on or think that students would benefit from learning about?
Service design, social media, finance or banking products, LinkedIn page enhancement 2.0?
Concept examples
A concept of discussion may be Senior living facilities. The types of facilities developed serving the growing senior market from Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) to Hospice. The discussion differentiates between the types facilities and who they serve.
Issue – CCRCs are resorts for high functioning seniors and run like resorts with age appropriate activities. Students may associate these facilities with Hospice and exclude these as potential employers.
A concept of discussion may be discussing gaming, more specifically imparting knowledge on what a “house edge” is and how all casino games are designed for the casino to win overall. Review games with the highest and lowest house edge and social issues around problem gambling.
Not so appropriate – teach skill of how to play blackjack or gamble

Post a discussion on an event session you would like to hypothetically moderate or plan out later in the course: learning objectives, speakers, etc

Your future employer – Continuing Care Retirement Communities
Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) are resorts for full functioning active seniors residing in resort style campuses. Learn about the growth of these facilities in the Ventura county area from hiring managers and the employment opportunities from front desk to event management/activities.
Step 2 – Write the learning objective of the session
Knowledge- Differentiate between the Senior Housing options and employment opportunities with CCRCs
Knowledge- Define the type of fulltime and part-time roles available to college students at CCRCs nearby
Step 3 – Reply to a classmate providing constructive feedback.

These are sessions that are held at the same time. So attempt to describe the topic in the most appealing manner with an objective of value to the audience as you are “competing” with other sessions that may be trendier or more interesting that CCRCs.
