In this week’s discussion, and next week’s assignment, you will focus on one complaint letter by a CapraTek employee that you think poses significant legal risk, other than wrongful death, to the company. Factors to consider in making your choice will involve your interest in the particular type of discrimination involved, in addition to other areas assessed in the assignment. Since you will alsoEvaluate possible legal defenses, ethical issues, and preventative measures that would have avoided legal liability, you should choose a type of discrimination that you find interesting academically or even personally. You may also consider whether you want to revisit the type of discrimination (if included in one of the eligible letters) you chose to discuss in your Week 1 discussion, or a different type. Risks may not be explicitly stated in the letter but suggested by the letter’s content. Ideally, you will select a letter that suggests more than one type of legal liability, for example: Sex discrimination and retaliation. OSHA violations and ADA liability. Racial discrimination and age discrimination. Religious discrimination and national origin discrimination. To prepare, read the Week 7 assignment instructions and scoring guide. Use the Ask Your Instructor discussion forum if you have any questions. Then, review the CapraTek Employee Complaint Letters [DOCX] and choose the one on which you would like to focus. Propose Preventative Measures Choose the complaint letter you will use for your Week 7 assignment. Explain why you chose it and what type(s) of legal liability it involves. Comment on whether you believe the complaint is realistic, viable, and relevant in todays workplace. If you know of anyone who went through a similar workplace incident (or experienced it yourself), briefly and tactfully describe the incident and its outcome. Suggest at least one preventative measure that you would recommend, and why.Show more
