This assignment asks students to identify and describe a client from various theoretical perspectives. Students must demonstrate that they understand the major tenants of three human development theories and how the theories describe human nature and development. Students will use the same client from the field placement for this assignment. The paper must cover the following areas and be free of grammar and spelling errors. Make sure your paper is in APA format and cite references from class and other scholarly sources.
Summary of client information (2 pages)
Write a summary of your client demographic data (age, race, SES, education, employment, etc.), client system (clients environment, support network, faith orientation, trauma experiences, and other details that will guide your engagement process. Discuss in detail the process of your engagement with the client. Make sure to address how your engagement is led by the NASW Code of Ethics and is culturally relevant.
II. Theoretical Perspectives (2-3 pages)
Choose 3 human development theories (from the list below) that best fit your client
(Eriksons Psychosocial Theory, Piagets Cognitive Development Theory, Systems Theory concepts to families-boundaries, homeostasis, input, output, etc, Strengths perspective, PIE theory, and Marcias Categories of Identity)
Discuss the clients current developmental stage, how the theories help you understand clients current behavior, and how theories guide your interaction with the client. Be sure to discuss the reason why you chose the theories.
III. Spiritual Development (1 page)
Describe the clients spiritual development from a theoretical perspective (e.g. Fowlers Stages of Faith model, Chapter 11 of Christianity & Social Work)
Presenting Problem (1/2 page)
Discuss the presenting problem and identify whether or not the client is in crisis (and why or why not).
Reflection (1 page)
Reflect and share your experience in applying what youve learned in class with the client at your placements.
