ECERS Project You are required to go into the community and complete a minimum of three hour professional observation using the ECERS observation tool. You will complete the observation and develop a final paper that describes the program, addresses their score in the 6 subscales, with documentation and evidence to support the score. For full credit, please be sure to use the following format to complete your final project: Introduce the project to the reader, briefly explain the ECERS, and describe the program where you observed. (Use a pseudonym.) Introduce the classroom and describe the environment for the reader. Describe the learning centers, the schedule, the outdoor area, and give examples of the materials available to children. Minimum – 1 page and worth 2.5 points Complete the entire scale using the SCORESHEET.
Demonstrate accurate scoring. Submit photos or scans of score sheets. (***tip: the Genius Scan App is free, easy to use, and will convert the scans into a pdf) Completed Score Sheet – 5 points Look at the ECERS-3 Profile. Select one subscale that scored very high and explain why they received such a high score with examples from at least 2 items. Demonstrate what they have or did to receive their score. 1-2 pages – 10 points 4. Look at the ECERS-3 Profile. Select one subscale that scored low and explain why they received such a low score with examples from at least 2 items. What was missing? What did they omit? Select at least two of the low scoring items and develop a plan for improvement. Reference the ECERS-3 and apply the course content to describe what they can do to raise their scores. If the program scored very high overall this may be challenging but even the best programs can continue to evaluate their quality. 1-2 pages – 10 points 5. Conclusion – this is where you get to discuss your experiences and your overall impressions of this project. It is the only subjective portion of this assignment, as the rest is based on the quantitative scores. Minimum – 1 page and worth 2.5 points
