In this assignment, you will explain how each discipline contributes to our understanding of the problem. You will demonstrate you can identify:

2) how sociological, economic, and political science disciplinary perspectives are represented in the contributions you found
INSTRUCTIONS
This week, you will submit the remaining two annotated bibliography entries.

OVERVIEW & INSTRUCTIONS
In this page, you will find the topics and articles you need to build your Annotated Bibliography. The overarching goal is to identify disciplinary insights about your social problem from academic sources. You will read academic sources and summarize their insights as they relate to your social problem. Rather than just summarizing the contents of the articles, the goal is to identify the disciplinary perspective represented in the articles and how they contribute to our understanding of the problem.
Note: This is an individual assignment.
Complete the following steps to build your annotated bibliographies:
1. Choose one topic from the topics below. You must choose your topic ***only from the topics below and use only the articles listed below***. I deliberately chose these articles to give you high-quality, representative resources from the disciplines.
2. Choose three articles (one for each discipline) from the list of articles provided.
3. Write one or more paragraphs per article that provide a disciplinary analysis of the article. Each article analysis should include the following components:
A description of the article’s purpose
A description of any key theories or concepts the article uses. The concepts and/or theories mentioned should be explained.
A description of the methods the author(s) use [note: for review and theoretical articles, note that they are review/theoretical articles in this section]
A description of the key findings. This portion of your writing should leave the reader with a clear sense of how the article contributes to our understanding of the problem.
A description of how the article represents a disciplinary perspective. Here you should explain the *distinctive* features of the discipline the article showcases.
The slides posted in this module should help you identify the information you need from the articles efficiently and effectively.
Note: ChatGPT and other AI tools are not permitted for generating or summarizing text. AI tools are only permitted for specific purposes, such as proofreading and seeking clarification. If I suspect any of your annotated bibliography content was generated by AI, you will receive a zero on the assignment.
TOPIC I: THE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS
Problem Statement: The mental health crisis, marked by rising rates of mental illness and inadequate access to care, is an urgent social issue because it affects individual well-being, economic productivity, and the overall health of communities.
Articles to choose from:
To create your annotated bibliography entries, choose three articles (one from each discipline). You are welcome to add more articles to deepen your knowledge, but this is not required.
Once you identify the three articles you would like to read, go to the assignment pages (under Applications – Assignments in this module) to see the instructions. Then, make sure to review this module’s slides to find the information you need efficiently and effectively.
Review articles will cover a broader scope of topics with less detail. All other articles will focus on only a specific research question regarding the problem and address it in depth. Consider this as you choose your articles.
