This will be the Literature Review for a dissertation. Begin with a summary of the purpose statement that leads to a brief explanation of the organization of the literature review. Do not simply cut and paste the Purpose Statement section from Chapter 1. Please Include several subheadings that are specific to this dissertation. To ensure that the study is relevant, current, and warranted, approximately 85% of references must be to peer-reviewed research that was published within the last 6 years of when the dissertation will be completed. Devote approximately 40 to 80 pages to this section to include citations to at least 50 relevant sources.
Here is the Purpose of the study: This phenomenological study’s objective is to investigate the real-life experiences of professional Black women who hold leadership positions in allied health professions. The study will provide the opportunity to investigate the practical experiences of Black women under the age of 40. The rationale for selecting this particular age range is based on the expected greater experience of this group that predates intentional diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and still actively working post-implementation. Hence, the selected target population will be able to provide a range of perspectives that will help to answer the questions of this study. The study will include Black professional women who work in varying healthcare settings in the southeast of the United States, specifically Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. This research will examine the obstacles and hindrances encountered by young Black women as they strive for leadership roles, as well as the issues they continue to confront after achieving such positions.
This research aims to investigate the concepts of mentorship, exposure, and workplace equality. The primary focus will be on gathering and analyzing the real-life experiences of those who participated using an interpretative phenomenological analysis. Please include information regarding Black Women in Leadership (including the barriers and challenges they face), Women of Color, Imposter Syndrome, Mentorship (or the lack thereof) all as it pertains to Black women who work in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Language Pathology.
