Learning Objective: Research a species at risk globally, find and read a peer reviewed article about the species, understand the issues facing the species, think critically about some solutions to the problems in the ecosystem.
Exercise: You will choose a species of interest to you globally and do some research on the species. Starting with a peer-reviewed journal article, you will understand and be able to articulate why this species is at risk and the issues in the ecosystem that are affecting its ability to thrive. You will write an article for the general public, something you could submit to the UCSB newspaper or the SB Independent, that tells the story of this species, addresses what is happening, why we should care, and what can be done about it. Include citations and images. We will use this rubric to evaluate your paper.
