Given the work of JS Mill and his Utilitarian perspective, he saw the problem of freedom as not being able to do what one could do. During this time, institutions were used to control and to keep those controlling in power.

In a couple of paragraphs-
1) Defend Mill’s points regarding the liberation of women. In other words, how does utilitarianism allow for the liberation of women. (explain why you agree and provide examples)
2) Could this argument be made today, given the current climate in American society?
3) Is “gender” learned — as noted by Mill ( and use Butler’s performative points from videos) and what implications does this have on institutions of marriage, family, and work
