Your primary objective for this paper will be to make a well-informed, carefully considered research report to an on-going conversation or debate about an important topic:
Choose a topic of significance from Trevor Noah’s audiobook Born A Crime (and you); it can be a social issue that you think we should work together to change. Look to your own experiences, passions, and pet peeves – what do you wish people did differently?
For this project, you need outside sources (you do not have to use Born a Crime to support your argument, however you must choose an issue discussed in this book, and provide, at least, 3 primary or secondary sources. You must cite them appropriately!
Requirements Assume that your readers are members of the standard academic audience who are not familiar with the text and may have only a basic understanding of your chosen issue. You must fully describe the issue using your own words, using sources as support when applicable. Sample issues will be brainstormed in class. Ideas may include concepts such as: privilege, segregation, education, racism, sexism, financial inequality, parenting, nature vs. nurture, alcoholism, nonconformity, assimilation, bullying, etc.
