Dropbox Assignment – Week 1
Guidelines: Two to three type written pages in length, normal 12 font and may be double spaced. Grading will be based on the criteria given below. A well written paper will be subjectively evaluated higher than one not well written (ex. grammar/spelling).
The topic of the paper: “My Current State of Health and Wellness/Health Behavior Change Plan”
Reference the Wellness Wheel (page 7 and Assess Yourself on page 20 and 21 in text) covering Physical, Social, Intellectual, Emotional, Environmental and Spiritual Health dimensions.
Assess your personal health behaviors and lifestyle at the beginning of this course noting both positive health behaviors in each dimension AND those areas you could improve. Remember to assess the SIX (6) dimensions of Health and explain the behavior by identifying AT LEAST One (1) positive health behaviors and One (1) needs improvement health behavior. More than one identified positive/negative health behavior identified is good and a plus.
EX. Physical Health – I do not use drugs, alcohol or tobacco, eat nutritiously, get enough sleep, listen to my body and will see a Dr. if not well. I could improve my physical fitness as I do not exercise regularly. Also, I am overweight (~10 lbs). I have difficulty exercising regularly because of lack of time. I work, go to school and have children to care for.
I recommend that you write your paper with each Dimension of Health in paragraph form to assure you cover all 6 dimensions.
Your final paragraph should include a Plan for Health Improvement. List Three (3) Goals you would like to focus on this semester and write a brief action plan for a healthier you! How are you going to accomplish your goal?? It is a plus to explain what steps you are planning to take in making those improved health behavior changes.
