1. If you work in a higher education setting, are you familiar with your QEP? If not, please meet with your Institutional Effectiveness/Institutional Research Office to find out about your QEP? How has this QEP transformed your college? Do you agree that colleges are best reformed from the inside out through processes like reaffirmation of accreditation? What about the Bill Gates method of transforming colleges through the outside grant processes from private foundations? What do you think of the continuing regulations placed on institutions of higher education by federal legislation? We’ve learned this semester that proposals are being drafted to judge institutions more on selected outcomes such as graduation rates, retention rates, job placement rates rather than by accreditation measures. What do you think of this proposed change? Long overdue? If you think this change should be made, what would be the outcomes that you think an institution should be judged on? Should the system just be left as it is? Offer your thoughts on the best method of reforming colleges and reforming the evaluation method of colleges.
2. Select two education reform areas/issues and provide your thoughts on what the inputs, political system/processes, outputs, and feedback would look like for that policy issue. Please list your two reform areas/issues, why you selected them, the process of getting them passed, and how you would get them approved. How would your proposed reforms make the education world better?
