Report (Week 7) Assessment NICE’s Public Health guideline PH49 makes recommendations for individual-level behaviour change interventions aimed at changing behaviours that can damage the health of people aged 16 and over. It aims to help tackle a range of behaviours including alcohol misuse, poor eating patterns, unsafe sexual behaviour and smoking. Pick ONE of these four health behaviours and propose an intervention that could be implemented to change that behaviour of individuals in a defined, local population of your choice. Requirements This assessment requires you to write a 3000 word report. Please ensure you: address the assessment and not write about something else write in a report format are familiar with the marking criteria observe the word count and word limit requirements use APA (6th) for in text citations and bibliography use a word processor use Arial font, size 12 with 1.5 line spacing and page numbers Guidance Choose the health behaviour carefully. A key part of the assessment is to propose an intervention to change a specific health-related behaviour in a particular group of individuals. You should report on your proposed intervention and its evidence base, answering the following questions in one coherent report: PART 1: Compare and contrast two psychological models of the determinants of behaviour on which you could base your intervention; by critically discussing the models and their associated evidence, decide upon which of these models your intervention will be based. (50% of final grade) What will your intervention comprise? Critically discuss your reasons for choosing these elements. How will you evaluate your intervention? Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your chosen approach to evaluating your intervention. (50% of final grade) Do not exceed the word limit. Word Count Assessment marks will be reduced by 10% if the word limit for your assignment is exceeded by more than 10%. The coursework title, bibliography/reference page, tables and appendices should not be included when carrying out a word count. With regard to tables and figures, please be judicious in your use of these and ensure they are fully labelled and accompanied by a commentary & analysis about what the table/figure is illustrating rather than being assumed to be self-evident. Ensure that it is fully integrated into the text that precedes them. This allows the reader to understand why you have included the table/figure and helps the reader know what to focus on when looking at the table/figure. While references list is e not included in the word count, in-text citations ARE included. Everything needs to be cited/ in text citations. Everything needs to be evidence based/ provide the evidence for everything mentioned, there should also be a critique of different papers/references used through out the paper. It should be broken down to roughly something like this: Intro 300 words First part 1200 words (600 words for each psychological model of determinants you choose) they should equally be evaluated inidivudally, as well as compared and contrasted to each other both in general as models for behavior change as well as in context to the intervention and behavior change you chose for this report. At the end of this section you will state which psychological model you will be using for the intervention you chose for this report. The two models can be used are any psychological determinent for behavior change framework, for example: Behavior change wheel, health believe, theoretical framework TPB (theory of planned behavior) etc.. you are free to choose any 2 that make sense for the intervention and social behavior change you have chosen. 1200 words for second part (600 words for what the intervention compromises of ) (600 words for evealuating the intervention for changing the behavior chosen, for the evealuation part, please chose a framework, such as the REAIM framework, or COMB.) You are free to choose 1 of the mentioned behavior changes for this report: alcohol misuse, poor eating patterns, unsafe sexual behaviour or smoking. We are to only choose 1, and create an intervention that is backed by evidence to work to create the change in behavior for the given age group mentioned above. It mentions you are to choose/specify a local population, you are free to choose a local population, this needs to be a specific population, a country is too general, it needs to be a specific city for example, this of course needs to be mentioned. there should be evidence as to why you are chosing this specefic population for the behavior change/intervention, meaning there needs to be evidence of a need for intervention for one of the mentioned behaviors that needs to be changed. Everything needs to be evidence based/back up by evidence. The intervention you choose can be 1 main componenet, or be made up of different components to 1 intervention. All aspects of the intervention need to be covered using the1 model of the 2 you will mention that you choose. The intervention needs to be backed up by evidence, has this intervention been proven to work somewhere else? why will it work for the population you chose? also needs to not only be information, but needs to have critique of literautre and interventions etc through out the paper, all backed up by evidence. No opinions or thoughts that are not eveidence based from literature/ papers. Please try to mainly use only peer reviewed articles for the report. Of course for basic statistics, the CDC or the NHS etc can be used, but just for main statistics, for the most part it needs to be different papers of peer reviewed literature.
