Here are my professors instructions:
Purpose: Before writing a grant proposal you need to first identify a suitable topic for your proposal. This assignment will help you do that. You are advised to start thinking about a topic for your grant proposal early in the semester. Please read the attached handouts above. This assignment will prepare you for the Grant Proposal assignment. If you do a good job with the Topic assignment, you will be able to incorporate a lot of the work you did for the Topic assignment into your Grant Proposal.
Instructions:
Read the attached file (“Topic for Grant Proposal.doc”) that contains instructions for this assignment.
Write your topic report in a Microsoft Word file and save your file as “(Your last name)Grant Topic”. For example: SmithGrantTopic.
If you have a question about your topic/s, make sure you read all the attached files before contacting me.
Be advised that it is not my job to help you come up with a topic. That is your responsibility. However, I am happy to give you preliminary feedback on your topic.
If you would like preliminary feedback on a topic, you must EMAIL me a draft of your topic assignment containing detailed answers to ALL of the questions in the handout (“Topic for grant proposal.doc”) and you must do so no later than one week (7 days) before the deadline. Please note that I am unable to give you feedback if you just send me an email containing a title of a topic or a short descriiption of a topic. You are expected to do all the work involved in coming up with a suitable topic using the handout provided before contacting me for preliminary feedback. That way I will be better able to assist you.
It is your responsibility to locate appropriate peer-review journal articles. You can find them on the Lehman College library website where you will see many electronic databases containing full-text journal articles. For information about how to access full-text professional journals from the electronic databases at the college library or how to contact a Lehman College librarian for help with this, please click on the LIBRARY RESOURCES and ACADEMIC RESOURCES buttons on the left. I do not want to see web articles or reports found from an internet search (e.g. using yahoo, google). You need to search the electronic databases for full-text peer-review journal articles on the college library website.
