Guidelines and Format write an essay two to four page essay on Chapter 1 of the Gallagher and Waugh book. While you are not required to answer the following questions as part of your review essay, you may consider using them to help frame your essay: What is the significance of the chapter (i.e. what is the authors central thesis?; why does the section matter and how did it impact the people, places, actions, or events associated with the Civil War Era?; how might the section relate to the United States in the present?)? Formatting: You will want to type this essay in a Word document. The essay should include a formal title page, be typed in Arial or New Times Roman font, include 12 point, be double-spaced, and include consecutively numbered pages as well. The length should be no longer than four pages (though going slightly over is not a concern). Lastly, because this is more of an informal essay, please know that you may make use of first person.
