1. When it comes to advocacy, presenting issues, how we want to help the population with the issue, and most importantly, why the issue needs to be addressed are imperative. From what you’ve learned from the class and through reading Advocacy Practice for Social Justice, how do we present information in the most effective way? Can we address issues effectively within communities if the support from the residents isn’t present?
2. Social media is huge right now and is only growing. Many people and creators are using their platforms to fight against racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia. Whether you use social media or not, we can see the influence these platforms are having in all areas of life, i.e., music, movies, voting, etc. Using knowledge from the class and through reading Advocacy Practice for Social Justice, describe why being silent in today’s world in being complacent and how speaking out on issues, having hard conversations, and listening to others regardless of separation of views, could make a difference in advocacy for our future. If you follow RELEVANT creators that you’d like to cite, please do!
3. The Six Thinking Hats are explained in Advocacy Practice for Social Justice as different approaches or styles to help with social advocacy. Which of the Six Thinking Hats styles do you think are the most effective at reaching the advocacy goal? Which of the approaches do you think would be the least effective in reaching the advocacy goal? Do you think a specific Six Thinking Hats style should be chosen depending on what the issues are or how quickly the goal should be completed? Explain your reasoning behind the answers.
