Create an analytical essay based off of the prompt: Does the past really repeat itself?
Connect a recurrent theme in the readings to current issues faced by African American people today. Be sure to draw heavily upon the readings as well as your own sociological research for this essay. Based on these readings, what predictions can you make about the future direction of African American literature in the coming decades? Tie your analysis back to specific examples from the text. The text are “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neale Hurston, “Parable of the Sower” by Octavia Butler, and “Fences” by August Wilson.
