This is a second piece of work from my first attempt and i’ve received some important feedback from my mentor which i hope you will be able to keep in mind when writing the current paper. Comments from my 1st attempt.
One big picture question — the impact of the pandemic on hospitality and travel are very, very well documented both here as well as worldwide. The press and social media had almost daily reports and updates during much of the pandemic until not too long ago. I’m inclined to think that the “findings” of your AE are stating the obvious, e.g. occupancy drops, revenue falls, hotels shut, etc. in light of travel restrictions and lockdowns. Is it necessary to write an entire AE on this? I would have thought that the more crucial research questions would be how hotels can prepare for another future pandemic, and what contingency plans they should have to resolve current manpower issues. Unfortunately, these were only dealt with cursorily.
You omitted to mention during the height of the pandemic, hotels were re-purposed as isolation venues for those served Stay Home Notices , even before staycations became popular. Also, government gave financial assistance in the form of tax rebates, cash grants, etc. to keep them afloat and not cut staff excessively to protect jobs as much as possible. None of these were mentioned.
Much of your cited data sources refer to the 2020/21 period when we are already in Apr 2023, and the health strategy is “living with Covid.” With the exception of mask wearing in healthcare facilities, life has pretty much returned to normal not just here in Singapore but across the world. That your AE timeline is 2 years in the past seems incongruous.
