Research Paper Prompt
In a minimum 2000 word essay, create a Rogerian argument based on an approved topic. Your topic should be something that people will disagree on but which you can also find a point of compromise.
Your essay should include specific, relevant evidence from a minimum of 8 sources, including a minimum of 6 scholarly sources. The essay should be written in predominately third person using an academic tone. The overall organization and structure of the should follow the outlined Rogerian model, although the number of paragraphs per each section is up to you and should be dictated by the development of the topic
Adhere to these guidelines:
• Minimum of 2000 words.
• Use APA format, including a Cover Page, Abstract, and Reference page.
• Use a minimum of 8 sources, including a minimum 6 scholarly sources found through EBSCO (or other library provided database). You may use any of the sources you have read thus far in the class, but you do not have to. You may also use things like videos and podcasts if they are reputable and relevant. All listed sources must be used in the essay and all sources in the essay must be cited.
• Please use size 12 Times New Roman font and double space the entire paper.
• Multiple quotes and examples with appropriate signal phrases and intext citations where needed.
• Multiple, equally-developed body paragraphs that clearly support the problem statement and analyze the issue (limited summary—see below).
• Written in third-person literary present tense with appropriate academic tone and style, and free of grammatical and typographic errors.
• Clearly labeled sections per the structure provided for a Rogerian argument.
• Students will create a visual enhancement for the essay using the guidelines presented in that assignment sheet.
Essays containing any of these elements will be given a starting value of 50 (instead of 100) points with deductions taken from there:
• More than one paragraph of single article summary.
• Any quotes more than three lines long (ie. Block quotes).
• No References.
• Use of any sources that are not academic (ie. Sparknotes, Cliffnotes, Wikipedia, 123helpme, About, ehow, Schmoop, etc.). Any sources not found through TexShare must be approved by the instructor.
• No introduction and/or conclusion.
• Under word count by more than 50 words.
• Only submitting the text version or only submitting the visual
Any plagiarism or other academic dishonesty will result in a 0 for the project.
