How do the flashbacks help Jing-mei understand her mother better? Does this help her embrace her Chinese heritage? If so, how?

Post a response to the question provided regarding the short story. For full credit, craft your response as you would a thoroughly developed paragraph. Include a topic sentence which contains the author and title of the story, and use specific details and examples as well as TWO properly documented quotes from the story as you develop the central idea and focus within your topic sentence. Two quotes (one sentence each) are required in your analysis. Short story titles should be in quotation marks (but not italicized).
Don’t forget to include a Works Cited entry at the end of your response for the quotes you take from the short story. Refer to the MLA Formatting Module for the inclusion of two direct quotes from a short story. An example of how to cite an in-text citation and how to cite a short story in an anthology is provided (250 word minimum/50 pts.) Word count does not include the bottom citation.

You may write this posting using 1st person (I, me, my) but avoid 2nd person (you, your, you’re) and 1st/2nd person (we, us, our).
Overall, I am looking for YOUR analysis. I am not looking for ‘the right answer’ but simply your answer to the posed discussion question. Analyzing literature takes time and practice. Use YOUR voice. Do not copy or summarize the work of others. I would much rather have a student’s work in progress as he or she strengthens a skill than a beautifully written masterpiece written by someone from the internet. I don’t expect perfection. I simply expect you to try.
No outside sources, other than the short story itself, should be used.
