How would you assess the “nature” or overall “tone” of the 1920s? Would you describe this as a decade defined by new thinking, cultural change and openness, or as a conservative decade in which older patterns of laissez-faire government and a re-emergence of “traditional” American culture held power? Or…was there something of both?
