Now that we are more than half-way through the mini-term, you should be familiar with the academic approach and overall goals of sociologists. A recurring theme is that when it comes to anything social about human beings, social context matters, social location matters, and that our lives are circumscribed by numerous large scale social forces that affect our fate in life (for better or worse).
Submit a short-essay post in which you:
1) Discuss your informed opinion on what the subject matter of sociology is all about and the overall goal of sociology and sociologists.
2) Discuss the role of specific large scale social forces in your own life and how larger social forces have shaped your individual biography and life trajectory (i.e., demonstrate a sociological imagination).
