Presentations should reflect research from at least 5 professional sources and include a question and answer period at the end.
Part 1: Demographics of Health Issue Affecting Women:
Describe the health issue, how it affects women and why it affects women disproportionately. Include all
relevant information including: the history of this health issue/disease, etiology, manifestation, progression,
predisposition, prevalence, incidence, morbidity and mortality rates and the physical, emotional and social
effects and implications for women. Describe the barriers women may face accessing current prevention
and treatment modalities.
Part 2: Demographics of Countries:
Explore your chosen health issue (menstrual product accessibility & cost) in at least two different countries and identify the key factors that contribute to or prevent the health of women. Consider each country’s relevant demographics, geography, and political, environmental, educational, economic, religious, and societal factors. Describe the health issue in each country separately including statistics on the country’s world ranking in health and the
prevalence, incidence, morbidity and mortality rates of the health issue. Describe which cultural factors
contribute to or do not contribute to the women’s health issue being studied.
Part 3: Cultural Similarities & Differences among Women:
Explain the prevailing social factors that make this health issue (menstrual product accessibility & cost) a problem among women in each culture studied. Explore what is being done individually, by organizations, globally to address the health issues of women in these countries.
Part 4: Learning Outcome – LO #2:
Analyze how diverse groups have contributed or been excluded from sites of power such as educational, social, cultural, political, and economic institutions.
