Thesis statement
There are three groups of non-voters who contribute to low voter turnout. First, there are those who have become alienated from politics and are no longer tied to any party; second, there are those who want to teach parties and politics a lesson. Third, there is a smaller group of the satisfied, who have little fault with the parties and the prevailing conditions. Nonetheless, low-voter turn-out harms democracy in all its forms, and therefore be avoided at all costs.
These sources may include books,peer-reviewed journal articles, and primary source material such as governmental documents. Essays should argue a perspective – as such please try to avoid thesis statements that argue in terms of “whether or not” or that detail all perspectives without choosing one to argue and prove. Quotes and paraphrases require explanation and citation constructing your arguments look to the model of “point, proof, explanation”
1. Make your point clear (what you are arguing or a fact that you wish to convey.
2. Use your research to add additional proof that backs up your statement. This might be quotes, paraphrases, policies, or statistics that support your claims.
3.Explain – why the evidence provides works to prove your point. What might a counterargument be; how do your claims relate to and surpass any possible counterarguments?
