For Assessment 1 (MyPitch), each Enterprise Team member from the perspective of their adopted company role (e.g., CEO, Marketing Manager, Operations Manager, IT specialist, or R&D Manager) will pitch key aspects of their proposed venture in 2000 WORDS AS A CONCEPT REPORT.
It is to be noted that venture-teams will be working on the same opportunity (MVP) or new venture.
Your concept pitch (mock presentation in week 5 class) and subsequent report are probably some of the first things that an investor (or even customer) would see in order to learn more about your venture. Your goals for the concept pitch and report are to spark interest in your venture.
You want investors to ask for more after they hear your pitch and not just show you to the door.
You will carefully describe your personal purpose/motivation, the vision and value proposition of your business or MVP to be developed by your enterprise, what problem you are solving and who has the problem.
You will also define your ideal customer, the total market size and how you will position your venture in the market.
Your pitch or report can be directed at either customers, investors, venture capitalists, venture partners, or it could be simply an elevator pitch, inter alia. Students are free to use currently available pitch templates to assist them with this exercise.
For your pitch, pick your words carefully–they should be precise and compelling. Tell a great, easy to repeat story which positions your venture as a perfect fit; show rather than explain; have a hook.
Use visuals like photos, charts, and icons to illustrate the problem and solution, and to appeal to your audience’s emotions, rather than explaining.
Within the context of your entrepreneurial start-up or new venture, your pitch and report will encompass the key elements of your proposed project including:
What is your main venture idea and solution? How did you identify the need of this idea/solution? The identification of your new product/service opportunity (MVP) will (preferably) address at least one of the MDGs. Your MVP might be an innovative, novel, new or even an adaptation of existing product/service which your enterprise is geared to introduce into the market with or without modifications. Provide objective evidences from academic / industry / government sources/reports.
What is your motivation for this venture idea/solution?
What main problem and subsequent pain-points your idea/solution is going to solve?
What are your value propositions?
Who are your targeted market/customers. Teams are expected to identify and talk with customers and observe their behaviour in order to outline clearly customer needs, pains, gains and the benefits your value propositions (VP) will meet and to ensure that the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is relevant.
How will you develop prototype of your minimum viable product/service/solution? You must provide evidence which should show that the development of your proposed product/service is possible and feasible.
What will be your unique competitive advantage and how will you establish that? Provide objective evidences from academic / industry / government sources/reports
What are your next course of action. Clearly outline the responsibilities of each team member, and the projected timelines and key milestones.
Your MyVenture Concept report will form the foundation upon which Assessment 3 will be built. (A video that pitches to the feasibility of the Business Model that you have developed over the duration of this course. Each role will integrate seamlessly into other roles and thus contribute to the overall Pitch Video and creativity of the story.
You will bring together the main ideas and key elements of your venture pitch in the form of a 2000 Words MyVenture Concept Report. Your report is the foundation on which Assessment 3 is built. Although things may change over the course of the Semester, your venture concept report will provide a clear starting point for you and your team.
