The time period is sometime between 2010 and 2014, and the current emphasis in the correctional industry is on offender reentry rather than incarceration. During the 1990s and early 2000s, your area experienced a boom in the inmate population and thus in the number of facilities needed. Because of this, you have a number of prisons within your state. However, the beds in your prisons are emptying, and since you are a private company you know that you will need to do something to modify your organizational emphasis to dovetail with the current demands within the correctional industry.
At one of your board meetings, your chief of operations noted that recent emphasis has been placed on prison industries, work release programs, and the need for offenders to have specified job skills in green technology and other forms of modern construction techniques. With that in mind, you have decided to modify your prison facilities to create a variety of products and services that will appeal to various industries throughout the nation. Along the way, inmates participating in these programs will learn valuable job skills.
