1.Broadly research your chosen topic. 2.Draw on a combination of academic research (e.g., journal articles sourced from the RMIT Library databases), media coverage, and other resources (e.g., government or organisational reports, web content, popular culture etc.) to inform your understanding, gain insight, and make observations. 3.Select an area of focus or specific example to analyse. This may be a particular angle or issue or a particular project, campaign, event, movement, organisation, group, person, or situation. You will need to do further research once you have narrowed your focus. 4.Describe the context of your case study. 5.Identify the key stakeholder/s (audience) and significance (purpose)of the case. 6.Analyse what and why this case has occurred or is occurring. 7.Discuss how it has been or could be addressed by different stakeholders, using relevant examples and identifying relevant messages. You can choose to draw on a single stakeholder and/or example, or multiple stakeholders and/or examples. 8.Highlight the challenge/s and/or problem/s and/or opportunity this case (and topic) presents for professional communication practitioners and/or disciplines. 9.Conclude with any suggestions and/or recommendations and/or ideas you have addressing these challenges/problems/opportunities. 10. Present your case study with a logical structure, include sections with headings and sub-headings, and appropriately use citations and references to support your analysis. The steps listed above can be used as a process to approach this assessment and complete your case study analysis. You can structure your case study as you choose and may include as many sections and headings as fit for your analysis. However, a basic structure/outline and recommended word lengths are provided below. This is a suggestion/guide only and is not prescriptive. Work on these appendices will be started in class, though you should develop and refine each appendix in your own time. You are expected to include the following appendices as part of your assessment: •Stakeholder map–this identifies different stakeholders(or stakeholder groups)associated with your case study and describes their perspectives and relationship to the case being analysed. •Research network–this highlights the research you conducted as part of your case study and makes connections between different aspects of your research (i.e. what are the overlaps, tensions, and themes between sources and across disciplines).•Case study artefacts–these provides copies of communication artefacts from your chosen case study (area of focus or example). 3 About Referencing Your assessment must adhere to standard academic conventions and you must cite and reference all material and content that comes from other sources (i.e. is not your own work). Your assessment should be informed and supported primarily by your own research(external sources and references), but may draw on course content and readings where relevant. You can also include relevant hyperlinks and other digital media (including websites and video content) as appropriate. Please use the RMIT Harvard Style Guide when referencing. Seminar and workshop slides and other course materials should still be cited and included in your reference list. All references, including websites and videos, should be referenced according to the RMIT Harvard style guide. For user-friendliness, we also suggest providing links to online resources -either as hotlinks in your writing or a list of URLs at the end of the essay. Topic List You must select a topic from this list of ten options below as the basis for your case study: 3.Sexual abuse and domestic violence – topic chosen This is the same list as for Assessment 3.
