Construct a phylogeny for hominins that lived from about 7 million years ago (i.e., pre-australopiths) to anatomically modern Homo sapiens and defend the rationale behind each decision. You must explain why you think each hominin is (or is not) ancestral to later hominins. You must explain why or why not you think particular hominins were the descendants of others. If you do not think any known hominin is a suitable intermediate between older and younger hominin species, describe the characteristics you think the missing hominin should have. Decisions you make that support the separation or merging of multiple species of hominins (i.e., splitting and lumping) must be justified.
