Clearing Air & Greenhouse Gases
COLLAPSE
From your reading material you see that The Clean Air Act addresses much more than just air emissions from power plants, although this is what many people focus on. The Clean Air Act also works to control air pollution from other sources, and is emphasized differently in different areas.
For this Threaded Discussion please provide examples of how the Clean Air Act controls other sources of air pollution. You can provide this from your own experience, but also look on the Internet. The Clean Air Act spreads a much wider net than we think! How much emphasis should be put on other sources vs emissions from power plants?
As you discuss this question consider where you live and work. Some of us live in urban areas, some very rural. How does this affect prioritization or emphasis on controlling air pollution? Are the rules the same in urban and rural areas? Considering where you live: is smog in urban areas being addressed well enough, or is too much emphasis being placed on city air and more should be done for rural areas? What if you live in a rural area? Is dust a big problem that EPA needs to address more? Is the EPA putting too much or too little emphasis on rural air pollution vs urban air pollution?
Threaded Discussions for our last unit were based largely on personal opinion and feelings. Now, however, you need to back up your comments with facts, or credible references, or valid experience. This is not a place for broadbrush generalizations or personal opinions based only on how you feel. You need to substantiate your points, make persuasive arguments…..and don’t be afraid to challenge others, where your facts may be contrary.
How is EPA applies Clean Air Act to regulate greenhouse gases?
