Take a key claim or thesis from Descartes or Ryle (in other words, a claim or thesis concerning the nature of mind, body, self-knowledge, intelligent activity [know-how], or self). Explain it. Then raise an objection to it. Explain the objection and how it challenges the initial thesis. Then work out how the author of the initial claim could respond to the objection.
