Overview
This assignment allows you to evaluate the wellness paradigm and death trajectories within person-centered care.
Choose one of the following topics for this analysis assignment:
Watch the video “What Really Matters at the End of Life” and explain Miller’s view and practice on palliative care and what people wish for at the end of life. Review how person-centered care impacts mental health outcomes in end of life care. Then, compare his practice to the wellness paradigm and the concept of a good death. (The video will not count as one source for this option.)
Watch the video “The Courage to Live with Radical Uncertainty” and identify Elmore’s experience within the four dimensions of death trajectories. Explain her theory that doctors should help patients live with radical uncertainty around cancer diagnoses. Then, summarize and explore two complementary and alternative medicines (CAMs) that may help with psychologically accepting suffering and fear surrounding cancer, in addition to physical benefits. (The video will not count as one source for this option.)
Upload your completed analysis paper to the Assignments tab, following these guidelines when writing your paper:
All papers must be no less than 1200 words and answer all the questions and expand on all aspects of the topics in the analysis instructions.
All papers must include an APA formatted title page, an introductory paragraph with a thesis statement, (it is impossible to do well on your paper unless you take a clear position on your subject, captured in a thesis statement), followed by a main body with supporting arguments, a summary conclusion, and an APA formatted reference page at the end.
All essays must use Times New Roman 12pt or Verdana 10pt font, be double-spaced, have 1″ margins, and include a total word count (not including the reference page).
You must use and reference two academic sources, either your eText and an academic journal or two academic journal articles (you have access to academic, peer-reviewed journals through your home-school and CCCOnline libraries). Websites can be used as additional sources, but please make sure it is high quality, scholarly, well cited, and well-researched prior to referencing it. Wikipedia or similar references will not be accepted. Analysis papers cannot solely utilize websites as a basis for research.Overview
