Select a museum that interests you. Then, choose a painting, example of graphic design (poster / print) OR asculpture created between ca. 1400 – ca. 2000 (the scope of the class). lf you are unsure of what museum tovisit, please message me. l am happy to help! l suggest visiting a museum you would not ordinarily be able toattend.
Then, select ONE work of art to discuss following the guidelines below.
The essay to be completed is a MINIMUM of 3-pages. This response must be in the MLA Format. Alsoinclude an image of the work of art being discussed. Place this image on a separate page at the end of yourresponse document(preferably in WORD format).
***Do not copy and paste the image of your work of art within your text. This breaks up the continuity ofyour words.
INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING IN YOUR ESSAY:
1. ldentify the work of art: Artist name, Title. date, and medium (information can be found on the page containing thework of art). Include the dimensions if these are provided.
2. Provide a brief, clear, and accurate description of the setting, figure (s), and action (s) being, performed.Start with the title to understand what you are looking at. lf you don’t understand something in the titleresearch the meaning. This will help you understand what is depicted in the work of art.
3. Thoroughly discuss HOW this work of art is similar AND different to ONE work of art discussed inclass. OR, make a comparison with a concept discussed in class (tenebrism, linear perspective, etc). Besure to identify the work or concept properly.
