Selected system: EPIC
1. Select an information or data analytical system being used by your current employer. You will create a proposal that will identify, characterize, and suggest improvements on said system. If choosing an EMR platform (Epic) please select a focused area within the platform (Surgical Patient Tracker, Quality Reporting, etc.) rather than the
entire software suite. Justification for each suggestion will be required and must be basedon weekly topics and reading concepts found throughout the course and from your own independent research.
Provide a general introduction about:
– how your company’s system of IT and data
systems is designed and how it can be improved.
provide a literature review (using at minimum five
recently published, on or after 2010, peer-reviewed or
reliably sourced articles) that describe and define
requirements that are applicable to your proposal.
Discusss the literature reivew as a section within
paper in additon to intext citations throughout.
Identify the primary and secondary components and
interfaces of your IT and data systems
Discuss potential barriers to implementing your
proposal, i.e. logistics, funding, usability, duplicate
oversight, required partnerships, etc.
