This unit is a logical continuation of what was covered in units I – V because once you have your talent on board and in the jobs you need to compensate them fairly. This unit gets into detail on developing a fair, legal, and equitable compensation package along with various types of pay and incentive programs. A quality compensation plan and fairness in pay and benefits help retention efforts and the goal is always to recruit talent, train & develop them, and then find ways to make sure they stay. A quality pay and incentive program help in that effort. This Unit has two discussion board posts and a Unit Essay paper. The requirements and instructions for the paper are broken down in the below “Unit VI Essay” post. As in the previous essay assignments, these are full papers and not standard short essays so be sure to follow the full paper format, clear headers, and use current material under 15 years that is peer-reviewed from the CSU Library, as well as the 300 words per page requirement when no specific word count is listed. Also, the same standard APA and writing style addressed for previous unit assignments applies to this paper with the introduction, body, and conclusion. As noted above, Do not use a “Question & Answer” format.

For this assignment, you will write an essay that explores the topics of gender gap and compensation.

In your introduction, explain whether you think the gender gap is a women’s issue, men’s issue, or both. Explain your response and reasoning within your introduction.

Then, divide the body of your paper using the headers below, and cover in that section what is indicated under the header.

Closing the Gap
Explain why the gender gap continues to be an issue in our society and what can be done to help close this gap in terms of opportunities and pay.

Legal Provisions
Identify legal provisions that are in place for addressing the gender gap. Hypothesize why legal provisions have not been successful in closing the gap. Discuss how ethics may play a role in future changes.
