Thoroughness (1%) – discuss not only the company but also the characters, and all of the applicable contexts.
Effort + Creativity (1%) – is your essay a creative extension of the script? Is this info that would help influence and inform the costume designer,
set decorator, props master, etc?
How your backstory + design choices tell, enhance, and add to the story (1%) – explain. How do your choices elevate, reflect, and/or create dissonance around the emotions of the situation? How could your invented backstory positively influence the Director, DoP, actors’ performances, etc. What info can the audience gather at a glance?
